The Shasta 22 California Conservation Corps (CCC) work group arrived on June 25th, 2014 for an 8-day work project to repair and replace fencing around the Bowerman barn. The group worked hard and accomplished their goal of replacing about 3 miles of fencing. All this in spite of unusually hot temperatures on numerous days. The community showed support by bringing desserts such as brownies and ice cream to the crew, which were greatly appreciated!
The community is very appreciative of this hard work and extends its thanks to the Shasta 22 crew!
About a dozen volunteers attended a workday event on Saturday June 21st. The group gathered at 8:30-9:00 am and started rose bush cutting and general maintenance. Due to the hot weather conditions, the group stopped at 10 am. The group consensus is to start earlier on future hot weather workdays. Check News and Announcements for the next workday date and time.
A gorgeous original watercolor painting of the Bowerman Barn by Joy Wiltsee was raffled at the Trinity Lake Wine & Jazz Fest on July 19, 2014 to raise funds for improvements to the Bowerman Barn and surrounding historic area.
Congratulations to the winner, George Bauman, from Long Canyon.
The raffle raised about $650! Thanks to all who participated.
