Members of the Volunteer/Service organization “Men of CHICO” from CSU Chico, traveled to the Bowerman Barn site for the last weekend in September. The group completed the bridge on the lower trail and built a section of the upper trail. Many thanks to this hardworking group of young men.

California Office of Historic Preservation OKs Interpretative Trail and Panel
The Office of historic Preservation, Department of Parks and Recreation has notified the Forest Service that the proposed interpretive trail and interpretive panel “… will result in no adverse effect to historic properties per 36 CFR 800.5(b)”

The next Bowerman workday is scheduled for Tuesday November, 11, 2014 at 1:00 pm. The weather forecast is looking like a nice cool fall day. We will continue with the fence around the cemetery. If you have a battery operated drill, early 19th century or later, please bring it along. See you there!
Young Family Ranch Summer campers visit on July 30

Twenty two campers from the Young Family Ranch Summer Day Camp visited the Bowerman Barn on Jul 30th. They learned about the Bowerman family and homestead, toured the cemetery and native American artifacts. The USFS mules and horses were in the pasture and the campers fed the pack team treats. The campers also helped out with a service project by cutting yellow star thistle.
