The April 5th volunteer work day is coming up soon. The latest weather forecast is for “20% chance of showers and a high temperature of 62 F.”
The “tailgate” safety lecture starts at 10 am. It is required for USFS volunteer liability coverage so there will be cookies and coffee to encourage everyone to get there a little early. More baked goods are welcome.
Suitable work clothes such as sturdy shoes and long pants are also required. Also bring work gloves, rakes, paint scrapers and long-handled loppers if you have them.
After the safety briefing, the group will split into teams to 1) install a picnic table, 2) clean-up the cemetery, 3) cut non-native roses in the pasture, and 4) general chores such as installing signs, working on a temporary parking area, and cleaning up trash.
At about 12:30 pm will be a lunch break. Bring your own lunch or a dish for potluck. Tables, drinks and snacks will be provided. Bring your own chair if possible.
See you there!
